Frédéric - treasurer & founder
We practice Textura Gothic writing, that of the monks
Western European abbeys from the 12th century.
Primitive Gothic writing appeared in the abbeys of
Northern France in 1070, then gradually spread to Europe.
It is no coincidence that the monks were the only ones to master this art. It is possible to acquire a certain mastery but to make calligraphy as beautiful, requires time, work, rigor, care and creativity.
This writing requires inner calm, silence, the brightness of a beautiful day, and a good dose of humility. We limit this writing to one or two hours, followed obligatorily by a time of pause, which the monks made by times of prayers.
And most importantly, we recognize that to err is human and sometimes we have to rewrite.
The enrichment of the Association is cultural. Odile and I, founders, experience other things and what we create is a marvelous passion, which one day will be us hopefully passed on to others...
We would like to thank those who support us at various exhibitions. These encouragements prove to us that we are not the only ones passionate...
